Great Lengths was founded over 35 years ago by the Antonino family, with a clear intention: to create a safer, more reliable alternative to the hair extensions available at the time.
Roma, 1993
Early methods relied on harsh adhesives and inconsistent materials, often damaging the hair they were meant to enhance.
In 1993, in Rome, Matteo and Sofia Antonino set out to replace adhesives including glues and even candle wax with a safer method. They created what would become the world’s first keratin bond — a method of attachment designed to be both effective and gentle, using a protein naturally found in hair.
India & Italy
At the same time of developing the keratin bond, and through direct relationships in India, the Antonino family gained access to raw, untreated hair of exceptional quality.
Together, these developments redefined what hair extensions could be, shifting the focus from quick results to long-term performance and hair health.

Then & Now
Great Lengths remains a family-owned business to this day — both at its headquarters in Rome and through its long-standing presence in Australia and New Zealand.
In Australia, the Aubin family has led the brand for decades, bringing with them over 70 years of experience within the professional hair industry and three generations in the haircare industry.
Across that time, they have introduced and developed some of the industry’s most respected professional-only brands such as Pivot Point, Matrix, and La Biosthetique — always with a focus on education, quality, and long-term relationships with hairdressers.
This continuity has shaped Great Lengths into what it is today: a brand built on consistency, trust, and a long-term view of the industry.
Our Approach
Great Lengths has always believed that quality should be visible, not just claimed.
In an industry often built on storytelling, we take a different approach. We show and tell.
Hairdressers are regularly invited to visit our headquarters in Rome, where they can step inside the facilities and experience every stage of production firsthand — from sourcing to final strand.
This openness allows professionals to fully understand how the hair is created, and why it performs the way it does. It is a level of transparency that reflects complete confidence in how we work.
What began as a family-led solution has become a global standard — while remaining true to its original purpose.
