Preparation
& application
How do I know if I’m a good candidate for a Great Lengths application?
If you have a medical condition that causes excessive hair loss, it is not recommended that you get hair extensions. It would also not be a suitable option for you should you have scalp concerns such as (but not limited to) Psoriasis, Seborrheic Dermatitis. You natural hair needs to be at least 10 cm long consult with a Great Lengths Certified Stylist. They will share with you what your options and/or limitations are.
How long must my hair be in order to lengthen it?
Minimum hair length for a successful application is 8-10 cm and for a full head application, 13-16 cm would be preferable.
Will Great Lengths hair extensions match my own hair colour?
Great Lengths hair extensions come in over?sixty shades from the lightest blond to the deepest black. Because your own hair may have two to three different tones, a Great Lengths stylist will often select a couple of different shades of extensions so that the additional hair doesn’t look uniform in colour and thus matches your own hair more naturally. Highlights and low-lights can also be added into your extensions if you want more depth and tone without dyeing your own hair.
Will my hair be pre-treated before the extension?
Your hair will be washed in order to eliminate silicone and all other substances. This will help guarantee the duration of the extensions.
How much does it cost to get Great Lengths?
Great Lengths hair extension service costs can vary greatly from client to client because each is truly a custom service. There are also many Great Lengths hair extension application options to be considered, such as lengthening, full volumizing, zonal volumizing, dimensional color work or special needs applications. For the most accurate answer, based upon your current hair type/style and your desired result, schedule a consultation with a Great Lengths Certified Stylist. How long does the application take?
If the application is done with single strands it will take from 2 1/2 hours. Great Lengths also offers systems that take only an hour.
Is it possible to have extensions with a natural wave?
All of our extensions have a natural wave however they may be styled as desired.
Do you see the bonds?
The bonds are even flatter. The bonds are perceivable only when you pass your hands through your hair.
If I have very fine hair, will the extensions be seen easier?
No, Great Lengths supplies thinner hair strands. Seek advice at one of our Great Lengths partners.
I ordered too many strands. What do I do?
We suggest you store them in a clean and dry place.
Will Great Lengths hair extensions hurt?
Many people read about horror stories of people getting hair extensions and then needing pain killers to sleep. Incorrect application of any hair extensions can cause pain if the bonds are attached very close to the scalp. Great Lengths certified stylists have to be qualified hairdressers before they are thoroughly trained and assessed on their application techniques to ensure that the correct amount of hair is placed in the bonds, the bonds are the correct distance from the scalp, the hair extension lies flat and comfortably in the hair. Hair extensions that are placed too close to the scalp will not extend the life of the hair extensions, it will only result in pain, hair breakage, headaches and at worst allopecia.
Can I add some strands later?
You may always add strands afterwards.
May I apply extensions for the third time?
Yes you may because the application??does not in any way cause risks. Great Lengths recommends that you return to your Certified Great Lengths Extensionist approximately two weeks after your application. This follow-up visit allows your Extensionist to inspect the application and ensure that your Great Lengths application result is performing as expected.
Can I get my hair coloured/highlighted while I have Great Lengths in?
Yes. Your qualified Great Lengths technician is trained to colour between the hair extensions should this be necessary. You can easily freshen up colour in the “freezone” or top of the head section where hair extensions have not been placed.
Hair extensions after an illness
We usually do not recommend extensions right after hair loss due to illnesses or hormonal causes. Your hair should be left the time to strengthen and then you may try applying a couple of strands to see how your hair reacts.
Without extensions my hair is so thin
We have noticed that some of our clients, once the extensions are removed, feel that their hair is thinner than usual but this is not true, it is only because they had gotten used to the volume and thickness they had with the extensions.
I?m losing too much hair
It is normal to lose 10% of the strands while wearing extensions. If you are in doubt, your Great Lengths certified salon will help you.
Can the hair be dangerous during pregnancy?
Our extensions are made with high quality Indian hair and its structure is very similar to European hair. Applying or Removing extensions during pregnancy is not dangerous.?You must however note that during pregnancy or while breast feeding hair loss tends to increase because of hormone variations. If this were to be the case then the extensions need to be removed as your natural hair would not stand the weight of the extensions.
Is it safe for me to my hairdresser to apply my Great Lengths hair via the Ultrasonic application method if I have a pacemaker?
Yes, there is no risk involved with getting Great Lengths hair extensions applied via Ultrasonic method if you have a pacemaker.

Colour & styling
Can extensions be styled as your own hair?
Yes! Great Lengths extensions may be styled as you wish. Everything is possible.
Will the extensions adapt to my hair color?
Great Lengths has a large variety of base colors and it is quite impossible not to match a color to your hair. Coloring is also possible after the extensions have been applied.
Why do Great Lengths extensions colors last so long?
This is because of our osmosis process. We remove the hairs color pigment without destroying it and before recoloring. This makes the color last longer.
How many possible color variations exist?
Hundreds if not unlimited. Great Lengths offers a very wide range of colors and if this is not enough the strands may be colored singularly.
Can I oxygenate my hair?
We suggest you ask assistance at one of our partner salons. Great Lengths’ hair may be lightened up to 9% H2O2: however, we do not recommend this to be done on tonalities from black to brown or from dark to blond.
Which tonality is the lightest?
Color 59 is the lightest color and we also do not recommend perming this color.
What are graded strands?
Graded strands are strands that start with a light color tonality and become darker. These strands mix well with your own hair and only experts will notice these strands. These strands are a perfect solution for who prefers not to treat their hair more than necessary.
Why are Great Lengths colors so intense?
Great Lengths’ colors are intense due to our osmosis process which allows the hair to absorb more color pigments giving the hair a deep and intense look.
Can I perm my hair and can I use styling products?
You may perm your hair and use styling products. Great Lengths offers a wide array of products and these products assure beauty for your extensions. None of our products contain alcohol.
Can private clients buy Great Lengths’ extensions?
